Well, for all those who are writing "nothing new": for retirement to proof that you sent every month 65K to a Thai Bank IS new, at least for me. Until last year it was just to get a letter of Pension with at least 65K/month, proofed by the Consulate. If they changed it i would be in trouble 🙁

Paul Asia yeah, the Non-O is very easy but for whatever reason he decided to apply for a Non O/A, wich is much more complicated

You can combine your Pension with deposit. Example: you get 60.000 K THB a month, 720K a year. You need 80K at the Bank. To be safe in view to exchange Rates i would say, 200K at the Bank should be enough because you said your Pension is quite near to the border. Anyway you need always to watch the rate then and fill up the deposit in case the rate turns much more bad to your home currency

A couple of months ago in Rayong-Klaeng they send everyone back wearing shorts, even Thai people. But they had some sarongs to borrow for free 😉 Other question: if you are in doubt already, where is the problem to wear long pants just for that thing? I always do that when i go to officials

You say you have the 65K THB monthly. Your wife too? Then why not make a Non-O retirement following the 1 year Extension. You don't need to stay in Thailand all the time but you need to extend it once a year. So you don't need to have that 800K x 2 on the bank, just the proof of your and your wifes income (probably confirmed by the lokal consulate). 1900 THB for the extension/person and 1000 for Re-entry permit before you leave or 3800 for multiple entry. For the extension is no health insurance needed, although of coz it's better to have one. I did this before i settled here. It's less complicated than a tourist visa
