You could self do but I'm a lazy bugger and timed visa runs with same people

Is a single re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi Airport 1,000 baht?

The reentry permit does not pause the visa, it just allows you to come back (on current visa) your permitted to stay date stays the same.
