I've been on a non OA Immigrant Visa for 3 years now. During the first year, I was able to use my home country insurance. However, since then, the embassy required an insurance company based in Thailand. I've done price comparisons and found AXA Thailand to not only meet the requirements but also competitively priced. Hope that helps 🙂

I'm a Malaysian and you do not need an IDP to drive in Thailand. But you only have 30 days to enter and exit Thailand with your vehicle.

that's one of the reasons. The insurance that I have now never expires and covers my life and medical worldwide.

OA is multiple entry. I do not need to purchase any insurance as I can use my existing home country insurance.

thank you. My property is rented out and I'm staying in a rented property myself. My agent is doing the TM 30 for me. Cheers! 😊

thank you for your clarification. The thing is, my insurance situation is a bit different. My insurance will never expire because I bought it as a package many years ago as a life and medical insurance coverage. In fact, I'm still paying the premiums annually until age 70. That's why I'm not sure if I'm able to "renew" the visa at all!
