ouch i've just realized that i wrote it on the wrong post... here my short story.... (happened 2 hours ago!)

alright i've just come back. at the immigration BKK (not DMK) on METV, swiss passport and priority lane due to business class and ticket to HKG (business class too) for next monday (plus 25k thb cash which they didnt even check and 2 visa gold and a platinum amex), well, they didnt wanna let me in!!! 30 mins talking with a boss there........ i think it's the first time somebody had troubles with that kind of requisites!!! what do u think tod? now im really worried!!!

in addition: never been blacklisted, never overstayed, never got into any kind of trouble.

reason for (almost) refusing me: u are here too long... fortunately i could prove that i have a business in HK and NOT in bkk otherwise........

so, doesnt matter what kind of visa u have and if maybe u can or not stay, or if u can or not renew/extend.... if they want they just block u without any reason...

im not millionaire... i could afford the TEV, yes, but my concern is if i'd have to move back to switzerland for any reason... i mean, if i was sure to stay 5 years i'd do it immediately, but honestly i wouldn't be happy to waste 13'000 eur for nothing......

i know, and i knew it already before... I'm considering the TEV indeed but there is a big difference between 10k and 500k THB........ that's why i'm sad about.....

why only for retired 50+??? i retired when i was 33 and i want it too... 😞

David N Viscuso maybe i wasn't clear... i left 10k + eur a month in order to live in bkk... not in singa, not in HK, in macao, taipei, buriram or koh lipe.... in BKK..... i love big cities, not the sea, and bkk is the world best one for me.....

i left my work in switzerland (more than 10k eur/month) in order to live in bkk.... i'm 37 and travelled in 76 countries... is this enough to explain how much i like this city?

be happy that retirement visa is easy to get and to renew.... coz for younger ppl is not that easy to stay here!!!

im in the same situation so im considering the TE visa now... i submitted some questions and they replied by email very well... i think this is the best option if u consider to live in thailand for a long period....
