, you were too excited and made a mistake when reading. As far as I read on all and every site from the "official" health insurrance companies for visa OA, the price isn't par month but per year !
but if I have exactly the same money requirements as OA, can have 1 year extensions as long as I want, and just do report evry 90 days as I do now with OA, in a practical way, nothing change really in my life…
So, if I get in Thailand a NON-O for 50 years old/retirement (with all the money requirement) then, during the firts 90 days, a 1 year extension… that will be excatly the same as the NON-OA. I can stay at home and report on the web every 90 days. That's fine for me.
If I remember well, 2013 was the last time I made a new fresh visa in France. Then in 2014, I was operated in CM and can't go to Paris that year so I made a quick trip to Mae Sai to get a second year on the same visa. It's this one entry which is reported in the first page of the new passport.
Then after that, I just made extensions of stay in CM, even if I go at least one time a year to Paris.
So, what do you think about, Tod ? Any advice ? I think that I will play what you suggested just before : do my extension early as possible in CM and see what happens…
I don't mind to break the chain to start again with a NON-O. I will plan every possibility.
If, later, they decide to push insurance obligation to NON-O, I will have time to think about other solution, like 20 years Elite. If I'm "obliged" to go that way, I prefer to do it as late as possible as if I stay in life more than 20 years after I took the Elite, nowhere is explained what happens. Seems like they didn't take this possibility in account when they create the Elite card. Nowadays, 20 years is not so much when you are just 61 years old.
