I now have a Bank account in Thailand and can transfer money in and out

of Thailand using Wise plus I have a debit ATM card to use when I’m here

Which is what the original poster wanted to know

I think the income figure is now BHT

I was here on a 90 day single entry

We just went to a big Mall and asked in every Bank until one said yes

Passport was all they needed

You have to understand , whilst you are in Thailand you are and remain an Alien

If you would just total the cost of your flights , hotel,food , beer, entertainment and any Visa

Immigration would be happy if you just sent that money and not come at all

This is to protect the airlines having to repatriate passengers who don’t have a return flight booked out of Thailand and some other Countries

Now the Tax rules are changing there are likely to be more people bringing cash and exchanging it here

agreed but you have to declare it arriving in Thailand

Plus the form says anything over $15k US

Also as I’m English the limit out of UK is $ 10,000 US and you also have to fill out a form

International limit is 10,000 US , if you son is also carrying the same you will get a pull

as we live in Bangkok it’s always a paper chase at immigration

We arrived back in Thailand just as Covid hit from a 6 month trip to UK together

So went to do first 90 report , they are not happy because we have had a month in Pattaya/ Jomtien staying in hotels and have not informed them of my change of address!!

Big problem if I have to leave Thailand because airport is closed

So my Wife calls her old Boss ,who’s a Lady, and she comes down to vouch for me

she effectively crosses it out so nobody can use the photo copy again, a bit like crossing a cheque

Before she retired my wife was Finance Officer for a very large Thai Coffee Company so maybe be it’s to stop fraud ,which is rife in Thailand
