My Thai wife really is an aerospace engineer. We came to the UK in 2008 and she got a job straight away with a Westlands supplier in Somerset. She already had a degree in Thailand, she then did an MBA here in the UK. Eventually had her own limited company and became a contractor.

Doesn't matter what you have it's always "no good 300 bhat". All part of the Thai experience.

Live in a care home. It's all done for you. I worked in a school for five years and never did 90 day reporting myself. Our passports were collected by a Thai member of staff and taken immigration.

You're right. You'll always struggle if you try learn Thai following European language grammar rules. Start with simple daily conversation. I taught English to Thai people for five years and they found English grammar very complicated. One morning I said to the students "I thought it was going to rain today". The lesson was then taken up with me explaining how you can have the future and past tense in the same sentence.

There many old folks homes in Thailand. Yes you have to pay but then they take of everything, including visa. One to one care, in a residential setting starts about £2,500 a month. Quality care far exceeding the UK.

Thailand has very good facilities for the old, infirm and dementia patients, but at a cost. However, compared to charges in the UK they are cheaper and the care is better. If your uncle's been out there he has/had money. The answer lies in how much money he has left. He would want to stay out there, I would. Your problem is likely to be the person who contacted you wants the money but not your uncle.
