personally I'm not, as I can deposit the B800k and show B65k per month (plus I'm decently insured) so I'm fully funding myself.

My point was with the lump sum you can't use all of it if needed as and when you might need to. You can though use all of the B65k each month.

B65,000 per month to extend a visa on grounds of retirement. B40,000 per month to extend being married to a Thai.

it's rather ridiculous in that you have to show a decent pot of money in the bank (to extend for Marriage or Retirement) which says you're able to support yourself yet you really can't use (all of) it to do do as it must remain there to show that you can if you need to.

does being on the good side mean paying extra? They're there to work impartially, so we're told...

the IDP is I believe still valid when carried with your home foreign licence for 3 months, so would be okay for most tourists. Should you wish to stay in Thailand longer and drive it's then you need to get a Thai driving licence and of course have an appropriate visa.

In England I always wore Shoei helmets (and I'll be bringing across a J-Cruise to use in Thailand). Do any Thai lids meet international standards? Having only looked briefly at them they seem no better than my horse riding hat or my cycle helmet.

I noticed too that so many riders in Thailand seem not to attach them properly.

Thailand Digital Arrivals Card. It's similar to the paper slip you were previously handed on the aeroplane just before landing. Now though you fill it in online up to 3 days prior to arrival.
