ScotiaMovil in Mexico. But any bank there will do. I think Cambodia, Turkey and Laos also high interest rates now also. No point bringing money to Thailand with that.

I make 8% or better for last several years on my fixed income outside Thailand. That’s 64k baht annually, less 10% withholding tax for expats.

An agent renewal costs about 18k baht. You do the math. And consider the level of convenience

no. Does not apply to retirement extensions. They are not tourist visas like DTV

5 year DTV cost is 10k baht. 10 year LTR is 50k baht. One year retirement or marriage extension is 1900 baht. All cheap. If you want to avoid the rules, pay more for an agent. It’s not a shame at all. It’s a good deal.

‘overstay’ doesn’t matter. You pay your fine and leave. That’s the end of an overstay. My first 4 visits to Thailand were all overstay. And have several from other countries.

They are looking at your travel history to Thailand and the obvious fact you have a partner in Thailand. And suggesting you get the visa that reflects that.
