I entered with a brand new UK passport recently. They will take some time to link it to your old one (and probably ask for your old one, so it's helpful if you have it). Don't be alarmed by it as this is standard process, but still be prepared for further questions if you've used too many tourist visas, etc.

Hi Jen, I'm in exactly the same situation but kind of waiting in limbo because as far as I understood, you have to leave Thailand and re-enter to activate the ED visa (but that's obviously very difficult to do right now). Are you also waiting to see if the announcement provides more clarity on this? Or are you able to have your ED visa in-country? Thanks 🙏
