Best to check with Thai Immigration in the relevant area you will be living in, as different areas have their own interpretation of rules. Thai Embassy Canberra give an approximate idea

You are talking rubbish, I personally know of several families with young children who live in Pattaya, and there are areas within 20 to 30 minutes, that are comparable to cities any where in Australia, I personally live only 20 minutes away from a major private hospital, and have all the amenities, and know of some great entertainment venues. Your problem is you try to stereo type all people who live in the area

Depends what amphur you go to, every office has their own rules, I had to supply all the relevant documents, including birth certificate, and have passport checked at Australian Embassy, it took 2 months for the whole process

I've never had a problem with Krungsri bank, very straight forward process, no problem transferring money from Australia
