How have I lost the plot ? I and others know exactly what is going on, why would you insinuate otherwise and thus give wrong information ?
How do I look down my nose" ? It described correctly how you got your yearly extension without putting money in the bank : by paying an "agent" to bribe your way around it. There certainly is no law allowing it. That's how the system works.
Instead of once again trying to insult me, you could exactly explain all of that is completely legal and explain the procedure. But you'll not be able to do that.
Give some correct information for once. But instead you'll just press the laughing emoticon and rant and insult without a proper explanation of the procedure of course.
You're incredibly naieve in thinking that just because you paid an agent a sum of money you miraculously got your stamps in a legal way. That's not how things work in Thailand.
But feel free to prove me wrong : explain the exact procedure. Quote the laws, the exact requirements.
In the SCB banking app, you can also set up a direct debit yourself. Withing the direct debit option you'll be able to choose electricity, water, true, etc... and you'll have to fill in some reference numbers you find on your bill.
The app will send the direct billing request to the company.
In general the truemoney wallet Todd mentioned is also useful. Completely free, can be used to pay others who also have Truemoney wallet. And you'll get a virtual debit card. You have complete control over it, as it is a top-up system. And can use the virtual debit card to buy on-line also.
I can't remember which steps to set it up, but it is possible.
Once it is set up, you can easily see when there is a new bill, click on pay, and pay with the card you want (which you also have to put in the app just once so it remembers it every time)
Typically with this kind of stuff : might be a bit confusing setting up first. But once you get it going it will be very convenient. And you don't have to be in Thailand to pay your bills.
Every bill can be paid with the right app... can choose different combinations.
Electricity : can go to their office and set up automated direct billing. And/or can download the MEA smartlife app, which shows your bill, and has the QR and barcode to scan for payment.
True has their True iService app which you can set up connecting to a payment method to easily pay your bills.
The work permit requirement seems to be misleading. They may often/sometimes like to start with work permit requirement as default, but Thai ID is good enough.
Passport OR Thai id. (like a pink ID card for example, Thai drivers license,...) Either one is sufficient. I know this is what you meant with "passport plus any issued Thai id", but just wanted to make this clear to anyone who is not familiar with the "know-your-customer" /KYC process.
Also : foreigners are 1 level of rights lower than Thai within the True money wallet system. But still very useful.
