you MAY need official statement of pension from UK pension authorities--that's what i used, but perhaps bank statements OK,i don't know

it's on british embassy website--you can ONLY apply by post, i have heard (unconfirmed) that the FIRST time you use the income letter (a new one is needed each year) you need to get it certified at Foreign Ministry. I didn't, nor for the second one in Jan this year, in Hua Hin.
