The poster is getting a "Zero-entry Non-O Visa Based on Being Over 50", which is valid for 3 months.

He *CAN* apply for a One Year Extension of Stay Based on Retirement when he has 30 days or less remaining (45 days at some immigration offices) on his existing "admitted to" stamp from the Non-O Visa.

Once he gets the Extension of Stay, he can apply for a Single or Multiple Re-entry Permit at any immigration office for 1K THB/ 3,800 THB.

The problem with that strategy though is the money. He will have to keep the 800K THB in a Thai bank account for 2 months BEFORE applying for the Extension of Stay, 3 months AFTER getting the Extension of Stay, and not having the balance dropping below 400K THB during the in-between period.

That is a valid option if he's willing to keep the money seasoned in the bank though.

He's already in Thailand though, and they don't sell one year multiple entry visas inside Thailand.

There's no rules about how much time required on your current stamp 🙂

Your money would be fully seasoned on February 27. You should be able to apply for the one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national on February 28th (The 27th is a Sunday).

IF you need more time, AND You haven't taken it yet, you can acquire a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family.

To get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism, the following documents are required:

1. The applicant’s passport and a copy of:

a. The data “picture” page.

b. The most recent visa (if applicable).

c. All entry stamps or extension of stay (if applicable) since arrival .

d. The departure card (“TM 6”) that should be stapled in the passport.

2. The extension of stay application form (“TM 7”).

3. [MIGHT be asked for Bangkok Immigration] A copy of the submitted Notification of

Residence of Foreigners form ("TM 30”).

4. 1x passport sized (4cm by 6cm) photos.

5. 1,900 THB processing fee.

The TM7 form can be found in the FILES section of this group. This TM7 is valid ONLY for Bangkok Immigration.

The TM6 is the departure card. I suggest going to your local police station in Korat and filling a police report to report the card as missing. You will take the police report to the immigration office, and they would issue you a new card. This should be a free service.

no it is not. A visa extension and an extension of stay denied stamp grant different rights to a foreigner and allows different things to happen at the immigration office.

Plus, the stamp also says “extension of stay denied”.
