Since getting a Thai bank account on a DTV seems to be an issue, what are Americans doing? Favorite fee-free credit or debit card? Other workarounds? Please share what's working for you. Are you handing over 15-30k for rent in cash every month?

As an American coming to visit Thailand for three months should I come on my 30 day visa free and a few weeks in apply for a 60 day visa or should I get a 60 evisa and get a 30 extension? Which way is best?!

I've been reading the embassy information about visas. My Thai/American wife and I are seriously considering moving to Thailand this year or early next. I can use either an American or UK passport, but it appears to me that the LTR visa for retirees is a good deal. And I can apply for it here in Washington DC. Am I missing something, or is this a good visa?

I’ve thoroughly searched this group, but cannot find the exact answer to my question, which is:

I’m American, I arrived on 30-day Visa-exemption, and have already extended at immigration one time for 30 days — until February 24th.

I wish to stay in Thailand until February 28th. What should I do?

Hello dears, I’m supposed to leave and return on a 60 day TR visa. (I’m American) I’m planning on going to Cambodia with my Thai sister who is going to drive us. Does anyone know a guide to doing this? What can we expect?

Update: thank you to everyone who lended assistance. I’m now sitting in the food court below immigration, feeling a sense of accomplishment. 🤣🤣🤣. I’m now (sort of) over my fear of immigration. The woman at the counter was fierce 🙂 and this is coming from someone described as fierce herself, but I have my stamp.

I am amused that my stamp is until 5/12. I will be leaving Thailand and returning before that date. I expect a bit of a head tilt at immigration since they are so accustomed to folks trying to live here on visa extensions and border runs, lol, but so be it. Again, thank you!!!

Original post: Ok, I’m really sorry for this question. I swear that I’ve searched the history of the group, but I’m not finding this precise answer. I know it must be there, but I’m not seeing it.

I forget all the terms, but I’ll try to answer all relevant questions and avoid the snark as best as possible:

I’m American (that’s what immigration forms call me…there’s no such thing as United Statesian)

I will be in Bangkok

I was stamped in with no visa…whatever term that is

I am unexpectedly, but happily, needing an extension. My main question is, what documentation do I need to bring? Do I need to get a copy of the TM30 from the hotel or do I just need to bring my passport? What else might I need to bring?

Also, I’m staying at Phrom Phong. Is the closest immigration office that Short-term visa office at:

C039, C040/3 อาคาร IT Square, Chaeng Watthana Rd, Talat Bang Khen, Lak Si, Bangkok 10210

I only have a couple days in which to handle this due to my travel plans, so I want to make sure that when I go in, I’m fully prepared.

Thanks so much.

Does Thailand require an exit ticket for an American to enter? I have never been without a round trip flight so just curious.

Hey guys!

Was wondering what processing times are looking like for the TR at the moment? American applying from the Los Angeles branch. Applied Nov 21, flying Dec 7th.

If my visa doesn't arrive in time I'll just enter on a 45 day stamp; but was wondering if I could still use the TR60 at a later date???

This question is for American expats. Are you able to provide the proof of 65000 baht a month income to the Thai immigration since the American embassy does not provide a letter for that now.
