I had to email several addresses before getting all info needed. I had to ask for specific country bank being used for transfer and insurance company bank transfer... name, account #, swift code etc.

Yes, my insurance company sent me exact instructions on how to transfer from USA (swift code etc) and link to directions to transfer from your credit card.

You don't need an agent but safest and to ensure all in correct order you need to pick-up the 'documents needed' instruction sheet & 3 page application. It's very challenging to get all documents for Non-O Visa & some docs dropped or added different years, so best collect from Samui Immigration. Note.. US Embassy Bangkok and some others no longer issue letter & Immigration aware. Also, when applying within thailand a police report has never been asked of me. H

I believe Medicare Advantage only covers limited emergency hospital & must return to USA. So when living here & family here long term, coverage is very limited. But if here short term and have home & care in USA, it is a good suggestion.

Yes, re above, health insurance not required for retirement non-0 visa. But if mother stay & want insurance, I am over 80, lived in samui 20 years and have very good broker in Bangkok for 8 years & all our communications are online. He can offer in-hospital health insurance, month to month for your mother. My insurance paid for 2 hospital stays in past 5 years & he helped so much to ensure payment. I would also like to find out what others think re dropping all but A, adding to current SSA payments. Many years of paying for health insurance in 2 countries ... and no plans to return to US.

At times rules/ needs are changed year to year. Best to pick up 'Visa Requirements ' form at Immigration office.

I have had a broker for 6 years and he's so supportive. We've handled all online including 2 hospital stays 100% paid by insurer and he talked directly with them to ensure payment. He gave me best options and even discouraged me from taking higher priced coverage. You can send me email with your name /age and he'll send you several clear options. I opted for in-hospital only and covers all ages. And can pay monthly so you can stop anytime without any penalty or questions. He's in BKK & before I used several brokers here but not good.
