Nope. It was agents telling people they had to stay overnight for some reason, probably some kind of scam. It's never been officially required to stay over night at any land border crossing

Nope. If it's a multiple entry visa you dont need a re-entry permit.

Vientiane only does the single entry Non Imm O. You might need to show financials there.

You can get the non imm O in Savanakhet without finances, single or multi entry.

If you only want 3 more months, border hop for a 30 day visa exemption and extend for a further 60 days.

Or get the non imm O in Savanakhet, Laos, no finances needed.

Or transfer 400k to your Thai bank and apply at your local immigration office.
