Is a TM30 required for a visa exempt extension in Phuket?

Been there in 2020 they wanted to have something from me - but since I didn't know about the TM30 I didn't ask my hotel for it but at the office they were fine with me showing the booking on my phone instead

happened in phangan today. Somebody got sent away because they still had about 30 days to go and the officer told them to come back few days before it expires. Whereas in Phuket I once arrived with 30 days and went to immigration just the next day and got my extension. Really different ^^
