Yeah. Those forward tickets, for a few Euro they give you a ticket which remains valid for a few days.

Before we got married my wife visited me. She had no job, no money, no property, no business. But I knew that you can’t stretch the first visit. So she came for approx 2 months and I bought a ‘fake’ ticket to Thailand to evidence that we would fly to Thailand together at the end of her stay. That worked fine. 😉

I believe you can compensate the lack of funds in the bank if you can show monthly income coming in to the bank. Maybe someone can explain…

Approx 365, unless you go multiple times per day.

Marriage extension versus retirement extension:

+ Less money required in the bank

- More paperwork

+/- Requires assistance from wife

+ Can get work permit

I’m going the marriage extension route soon. If I can obtain a work permit for what I want to to do then I’ll stay on this method. If the work permit is denied, next year I’ll be on retirement extension.

The required 800k funds will be in the bank on day 1, no matter which visa I will request. Just to make sure.

Replace “easier” with “possible” and you’re right. You can not get a work permit on a retirement extension.

Totally correct, 90 day non-O, *one* 60 day extension, infinite 1 year extensions (*). That’s the sequence. Each step has its own requirement (listed previously in the thread).

(*) “infinite” = until the end of your marriage or the end of the life of either partner, whichever comes first. If/when your partner passes or your marriage goes south you must report to IO and convert to an extension based on retirement (if you meet the criteria). Assuming no mutual children.

Yes, you can. I am going exactly that route starting next month. Have a non-O, will get a bank account in Bangkok, will then be touring a bit first, then go to the destination and get a local bank account, deposit money, extend two months and after that get the 1 year extension based on marriage.

I am starting with a bank account in Bangkok just to make sure. I expect banks in Bangkok to be more experienced in handling new accounts for farangs. So if I get trouble from banks in the province (Sakon Nakhon) I will have the account in Bangkok.

As far as I know, the two months extension of the non-O is only possible for those who have non-O based on being married to a Thai, e.g. it is not available for those on non-O based on retirement. Anyone can correct me if I’m wrong.
