Richard Humphrey I have been using an agent for years. Money well spent. I only go to Immigration once a year usually with my agent and I can be in and out in an hour. PLUS my agent does my 90 day reporting too, and just sends me the 90 day completion slip. They also arranged my transfer to another local branch of Kasikorn.

I have had bank accounts with several banks ( due to my teaching work ) I still have accounts with Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank. Never a problem opening them. Only bank to refuse me was KrungThai They told me it was for Thais only. My pension is paid into WISE then I transfer it to my Thai bank. Bangkok Bank use to take hours, sometimes days to transfer my money. So I changed to Kasinkorn and the transfer is immediate ( minutes )
