The requirements suggest the visa is no longer valid if you do not comply with the document re-certification. I mean valid in the practical sense that it cannot be used. Yes, I know that the period of stay is 180 days because it says so on the entry stamp.

Why make the visa for five years if you have to go through this every six months? Clearly, it's just a six-month visa which they called a five-year visa for no reason at all.

From my own experience trying to use the soft power route in Taipei and other accounts about Taipei applications, they do not simply accept the 500K in accounts. They tend to require proof of income. It seems like their willingness to accept proof of funds without income is at their discretion.

Maybe not, but also my bank records would show transactions in Thailand.

Yes, it was pretty clear from my entry/exit records and work history that I was already working. There's some disagreement about this, but Thailand does not have the same concept of "working" that EU or Europe do, where you'd want to avoid confessing to doing remote work on a tourist visa.

Less than one day for approval in Taipei but didn't get the visa until the next day.
