Jan Kenneth Nesland how does one open the required Thai bank account to deposit the monthly income to? You need to have the visa to open the account. The banks do not accept a tourist or visa exempt stamp to open an account. It is my understanding the bank account and necessary time requirements are needed to be in place to receive a Non-O in country but only proof of funds if applied online from outside the country for the initial 90 Non-O. Could be mistaken as rules change

Check you specific situation as you may be required to apply outside of Thailand for the non -O visa. Under specific conditions you may be able to convert. In the US the initial non-O visa is applied for online and a 90 day visa is granted. Once in Thailand, the bank account is opened and the other requirements are met to get a 1 year extension. You will not be able to open a bank account if you are on a visa exemption or a tourist visa needed for the non-O visa.
