read me again then, you misunderstood my point. Depending what country you're from, and/or your professional background / current activities and/or your financial documents (not talking about having the 500k THB here or not, or being able or not to support yourself during your stay), some embassies will simply be stricter than others in validating your application (and it can even get tougher to get validated from a given embassy at a different period of time, everything fluctuates here, this is Thailand!).

It's always a per-case scenario, regarding the DTV application, not a one-case-fits-all. It can be easy for some because they have exactly what the Embassy expects to get, while some other people will have to 'work' much harder on it, with a higher chance of being rejected.

Better spend the money you'll most obviously have to shell out (on a second visa attempt) on a 6-month course (unlimited or not).

Maybe, but not everyone speaks English or wants to have to deal with documents which have to be translated into it. It can be daunting for many people, unfamiliar with the language, especially regarding financial and administrative documents. And fees are not in the hundreds. Some agents offer their services for much less, starting at around a hundred USD, and even guarantee you success in getting your DTV.

Participant anonyme 748 These are just scammers, and they can be found everywhere. Who would even consider using their services at these exhorbitant prices? 99% of (legit) agents charge much, much less than that.

Couldn't agree more. Many agents are actually way below $400, and they still guarantee you success in getting your DTV. Some people will just do all they can to spread false rumors here.

he's just another one trolling this community. Agent prices usually start around $100+...

"If you don't qualify an agent is going to magically get you a DTV." Well, you are criticizing those who'd need an agent for not being able to input their own name accurately, but look at your own sentence. You obviously wanted to say the opposite, so... Application denied? Anyway, there are plenty of reasons for being denied or having your application cancelled, some might be obvious, others much less, and agents are usually experts in optimizing your chances of being successful. A waste of money? Well, for some, maybe, but each case/person is different, and depending on what country you're applying from (especially non-English countries), it can be really tricky to deal with all the translations, cover letter, portfolio... I'm well aware none of what I say will change your mind, and I actually couldn't care less. I'm just voicing my opinion on the matter.

Agency names are not welcome here, unfortunately. It's a famous one, in Bangkok. Its name evokes a navigation tool.

Participant anonyme 419 and why so? Some agents even guarantee you to obtain your DTV successfully, and quickly (usually without losing time being asked to provide more documents after submitting your application), for very affordable prices. Many people here reported losing more money on having to apply a second, or even a third time, because embassies are getting stricter and stricter about it, rather than spending a little extra for a good agent that will ensure you get approved. Got mine in 3 days, Hanoi, SP (cooking), in one shot, and absolutely no regret paying an agent for it. To each their own, obviously.
