First hand knowledge and experience here

1. The Fiance’ visa has taken 9 months so far and was approved just last week, we’re now waiting to hear from the BKK US embassy for our interview

2. A marriage visa I’m told takes 1.5-2 years so the Fiance’ visa is a quicker option

3. I know an immigration layer in California (a friend) and she advised me in several things that I think helped

A tourist visa to the US is almost impossible for a Thai citizen to obtain , my Fiance was denied after waiting 6 months and there were 20 people in the group all Thais asking for a tourist visa and ALL were denied

British government needs to see assets in Thailand for her to return to. If she doesn’t have enough for them to believe that she’ll return then you need to sign an affidavit guaranteeing her return … visas for any Asian is very difficult on their own merits

I have personal experience with this, of the 20 people in the group waiting “interview “ at the US embassy in BKK only one was excepted and that one was for education visa. ALL others requesting tourist visa were denied. Since then I have talked to dozens of people inside the Government and they all say the limits on Thais getting a tourist visa is less than 1%

The history with Thais and other Asians coming to the states is that they simply don’t return. It’s sad that the past history is driving this but it is what it is.

After 12 months of waiting for a K1 visa we still haven’t gotten a visa … waiting….

this information is somewhat benign… the applications being processed during Covid is irrelevant and shouldn’t be in the graph, and the center that I applied to (California ) flat out told me expect 9-12 months processing time. As I stated it’s been 6 months now with zero response so I wouldn’t get someone’s hopes up with the “6 months timeframe” as things progress I’ll do updates so others have an idea

I am currently on month 6 of a Fiancé application and still nothing from US except acknowledging the application

Btw it needs to be filed in the US not the embassy . $575 non refundable fee and be sure to do all the required paperwork and supporting documents
