Thanks for this, Brandon. I'm going back tomorrow in the hope I will be excused the charge as they were closed. It seems a bit unnecessary as I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks which re-sets the 90 day clock.
In the meantime, Vietnam are coining it in with tourists who can't be bothered to fill in more pointless Thai admin. I've lived in Thailand 20+ years full time and the rigmarole they put in your way has caused the loss of many acres of forest. I have to submit the same information, four pages long, 6 times a year despite the data not having changed at least for the last 7 years.
They are getting people who don't want to do pointless exercises in useless administration. KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid: meanwhile Thailand's numbers are going down the plug hole as all the dimwits are seeking pastures new.
I've secured visas for a variety of Thai ladies in my 20 years here for UK/US/SCHENGEN. They are all cumbersome. My point is Thailand is losing out to Vietnam which is far simpler yet T/land has just introduced another obstacle- TDAC when they should be making it easier.
Then Thailand wonders why people are flocking to Vietnam where things are much simpler. Thailand always overcomplicates things unnecessarily. A simple thing like a re-entry permit demands one double sided application form with photo + copies of 3 pages of your passport (which the officer is holding in his hand) - all of which has been provided six times a year, in my case, for TWENTY consecutive years!
