Thanks Jan and Tod. Do you know if Chiang Mai is an office where you can apply 45 days beforehand? If I can get my passport back the same day that would be great 👍

it’s crazy. I understand the banks tightening up but then immigration needs to change the requirements.

I just did mine in CM. Also copy and sign relevant pages of both passports. And not mentioned on any list, they wanted a copy of my TM30

the problem with that method is the bank account opening. You need the bank account open before you can get the visa, without the visa you can’t open the account. Catch 22

they transfer everything to your new passport. Even the last entry stamp and the stamp you entered on before you got your Non-O. Before they issue an extension in your new passport the stamps related to your non O have to be transferred

I just did mine in Chiang Mai. My understanding is you are supposed to transfer the visa/extension and other stamps to your new passport as soon as you receive it. The extension in your new passport mentions your old passport number. Your old passport has a stamp in it which mentions your new passport number. So kind of linked

it’s ok until you go to immigration for something then the latest TM30 in their system does not match your home address.

You need to also do it if you visit somewhere inside Thailand and stop in a hotel.

Also don’t forget to update your bank book on the day and take a copy.
