I recently transferred my non o retirement visa to my new passport. Relatively easy. I obtained the new passport while in Thailand. Then I went to immigration and they transfer not only the visa stamp but also the extension and entry chop etc. There is a form to fill in. Have to copy relevant pages of old passport. Passport picture. Tm 30. (Using new passport number)

The best option is to apply for a 3 month retirement e-visa from outside Thailand and use funds in a bank outside of Thailand. Then arrive and first job open a bank account and then deposit 800,000 wait 2 months and apply for 12 month extension

Just to add one more point not mentioned. The letter and the detailed statement last 7 days after which you have to do it again.

If you don’t already have bank accounts in Thailand you need to also start doing your homework on that subject and search this group and other to understand the difficulties

Thanks Jan and Tod. Do you know if Chiang Mai is an office where you can apply 45 days beforehand? If I can get my passport back the same day that would be great 👍

it’s crazy. I understand the banks tightening up but then immigration needs to change the requirements.

I just did mine in CM. Also copy and sign relevant pages of both passports. And not mentioned on any list, they wanted a copy of my TM30

the problem with that method is the bank account opening. You need the bank account open before you can get the visa, without the visa you can’t open the account. Catch 22
