I've heard that the DTV soft power/medical route is an viable option. Receive some initial / continued treatment at a Thai private hospital or dental clinic good to go.

 No issues at all in Hat Yai. Pattani is 100km further south. It's a very popular destination for Malay & Singaporeans. MUCH safer than Pattaya.

Check out Hat Yai...cleanest air for a major city, good infrastructure, food scene, intl airport, close to beaches, lower cost vs expat areas.
