I've heard reports from genuine tourists (guy from Sweden) being denied and sent home from BKK. No ATM before immigration and they did not accept bank statements.
I'm going back to Penang soon for a new non-B but will bring the cash in baht with me and travel around with it, just in case. I hate to carry so much cash with me but better safe than sorry. I won't be crossing in Sadao and rather fly back to Bangkok but still.
I don't speak enough Thai to fully understand which documents are needed and where to obtain them. The slightest mistake will get you refused so it's much easier for me to let someone deal with it who does it everyday.
Mh, maybe it has something to do with consulates being stricter now. I trust Jim and I know he tried everything he could. I'll see what happens when I get there next time but pretty sure I'll only get a single entry.
Jim called his connections at the consulate for me and said it's absolutely not possible and I should get an extension in June before I come next time. So I'll not get it...
