Go your way.

Some people like to learn the hard way instead of listening to others who have more experience.

Although I’m pretty sure you won’t do it or regret it half way.

Forget it. He has some reason to not accept others well formulated arguments, and he won’t share that reason.

Wanting to “invest” 400k says it all as far as I’m concerned.

If you really want to go the harder marriage way:

Make sure your marriage is accepted in Thailand. Go ask your Thai embassy, you may need to get some paper/stamp!

But I would choose the retirement way with 800k in bank. It’s way easier for you and the immigration.

@Marianne *******
Exactly. If THAT is an issue he should stay home.

Best advice: stay away for a few months. Then a tourist entry without visa has better chances to be granted.

Alternative: get a DTV and pay the price

Question is: what makes you want to stay without a visa? The weather and people are nice in the Philippines or Malaysia too.

Where did you get that it is changed to 30 days?

Better read official pages than FB “news” ;)

Did you ask the immigration, if they let you convert your marriage to retirement visa in place?

Doesn’t matter.

But what does:

You should take a look at nonO instead of OA.

Doesn’t require any of the things that OA needs, specially not one of the expensive health insurances from the list.

What it does require, is either 800k in Thai bank or 65k monthly income.
Robert ********
Why would you need that?

You said that you have one from your home (germany or UK). That’s enough. A Thai IDL isn’t better than any other countries international license.

@Leo ******
For me it’s the x hundredth time I’ve heard it. Also my insurance broker asked me about my license and told me that IDL will invalidate any cover.
