Anyone know what's going on with wise.

I transfer money using wise into my Bangkok bank I mark it as long term for retirement but when I check my Bangkok bank account it shows up as DEP TRF FR E-CH not international transfer. Has something changed with Wise because before it would show up correctly. Also will immigration except it when going for visa renewal

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users are experiencing issues with Wise transfers to Bangkok Bank, where deposits are now marked as "DEP TRF FR E-CH" instead of indicating an international transfer. This change is due to Wise switching to Kasikorn Bank as their clearing bank. This affects how transfers are recorded, potentially complicating the immigration process for retirement visa renewals, as immigration may not accept these transactions as valid proof of funds. Some users suggest opening an account with Kasikorn to avoid issues.

Your best saying it’s for property purchase, it’ll take longer to go through. But you will get the right code

Nothing to do with wise. It's the Thai banking system.

Last time I renewed my retirement visa immigration would not accept it..

@Tim **********
that must be something else, this is a recent change

Nope exactly the same thing. Some transfers came through international and some didn't. I only became aware of it when I requested a printout of my international transfers.

Nothing to worry about. The reference is merely an abbreviation for "Deposit Transfer From Electronic Channel" in plain words an electronic transfer from abroad which is what Wise does.
Kim *********
@David *******
what's crucial for many is whether immi accept that as international transfer or not. I reckon no one knows at the moment.

nothing's changed. The reference is merely an abbreviation for "Deposit Transfer From Electronic Channel" i suggest you talk to Bangkok bank on this change and ask them whether anything changed regarding the stamped statement for immigration

my friend also issued the ฿65k rule and gets this terminology. He went to a branch other than charm to enquire (Pichet) and they asked him to go to chasm where he setup the account to enquire. Disgusting

Not this again.....

The best advice is to dump BB and open a kasikorn account. I am looking forward to meeting the manager at my BB branch and to him watching me transfer a large sum of money from his bank to Kasikorn. He probably wont care but it will make me feel better after the problems they have caused me and others.

Read a few years back that around 25 million USD was required to have a bank "care" very much about a particular account. (That's close to 800 million Thai baht). Go show them who's the boss.

So why do they pick on the little bloke ? Easy target ? No team of lawyers backing him up ? No off shore Swiss accounts for the well to do ?
Nick ************
@Bruce ***********
As I said, probably won't care but it will make me feel better.

and how do you get that 12 month letter once deposit are split across multiple banks?

@Sean *********
I have banked money in Krungsri. Always have a plan B.

Mine just came the same way opening Kasakorn tomorrow
Joe *****
If they keep.messing up u will have problems showing 12 months of acceptable deposits.
Martyn ***********
Yes something changed.. It was next day 2pm and now comes in minutes. So obviously using a different 'method'... That's caused your problem IMHO.
Brandon ************
Wise is now using Kasikorn as their clearing bank, instead of Bangkok Bank. That means all money entering Thailand goes to Kasikorn first, and then to your account.

You can ask your bank if they can contact Kasikorn to get a credit advice showing your transfers as international, but they'll probably say no as they don't want to do that work.

That means you'll need to go to Kasikorn and get it yourself. It will help if you bring your Wise receipts so they can find the transfers faster.

Ok went to Bangkok bank they told me to contact wise i contacted wise and they said that they cannot guarantee it would be mark as international transfer and I should goto kasakorn and ask for letter.

The guy from wise is supposed to email me if he finds out more info.
Mark ********
@Brandon ***********
they still use Bangkok Bank also
Phil ******
@Brandon ***********
where did you get this information. Over 7 years ago I finally had all my transfers routed via Bangkok bank international partner of Wise. The advantages are quick transfers under 1 minute no matter on the time of day and day of week. Wise has 4 partners for transfers into Thailand
Brandon ************
@Phil *****
my information is multiple people posting that this has changed over the last week and their Bangkok Bank deposits are no longer showing as international instead they are coming from Kasikorn. Whereas people with Kasikorn are reporting their transfers are showing as international. No one has reported anything different in the last week.
Phil ******
@Brandon ***********
ok. But over 7 years ago mine were locked into the international arm of Bangkok bank. I know Wise has 4 partners here in Thailand too. My transfers are marked the same after doing the "funds for long term.........."
Alison ********
@Brandon ***********
I used Wise to transfer money to Thailand with Kasikorn a few years ago and it didn’t show up as international and they wouldn’t give me paperwork to show international transfer
Brandon ************
@Alison *******
because it didn't go through Kasikorn a few years ago. Now it is. You have to get the paperwork from the bank that it went through first. And that's only if you select the correct reason when making the transfer.
Robert ********
@Brandon ***********
Something in your logic doesn’t add up. Can you explain the following?

When I assembled my paperwork for the revenue department for 2024 I had Bangkok bank AND kasikorn statements showing international transfers.

So it did not depend on which bank was the first in a transfer.

And I strongly believe that kasikorn was the main partner because all transfers were instantaneous while transfers to Bangkok bank mostly were executed over night, arriving a few minutes after 14:00.

Plus: in English the wise transfers were coded like “ref ….” (Don’t remember exactly) while in Thai they were “foreign” or “international” depending on how I got the statement.
Alison ********
@Brandon ***********
they told me and this was a few years ago that it went to Kasikorn in BKK but u can’t get the paperwork from Bkk to say it was an international transfer. I then opened a Bkk account and it showed as international transfer but sounds like that has changed now
Heinz ***********
@Brandon ***********
wise uses also Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank and Siam Commercial Bank as their local partners.
Phil ******
@Heinz **********
absolutely correct
Bert *************
@Brandon ***********
Well the business model of wise is that they keep large currency positions in individual countries so that they can avoid international money transfers. So it is by no means a guranteed international money transfer.
Mark *********
Brandon ************
@Bert ************
If you select the correct option in Wise, there will be a way to get it shown as international transfer. You just have to do extra work sometimes.
Marianne ********
@Brandon ***********
Would this imply that this is a non-issue for people wit Kasikorn-accounts?

Or would it be a add-on document that would need to be requested?
Brandon ************
@Marianne *******
The transfer into Kasikorn is showing as international if selecting the correct option, according to multiple people
