Sorry for my confusion but if the visa sticker was expired and they wanted to exit, as you said, wouldn't they be on overstay and get a fine and even if they have a re-entry stamp when they returned how could they be stamped back in to the original expiration date since it has passed already?

Overstay more than 40 days = 20,000 baht. You should have reported to the immigration about what happened to your passport long time ago. You probably won't find much sympathy now when you report to Immigration but the longer you wait the more trouble you'll find.

I talked with Mat and he says you can contact him on Whatsapp if you haven't tried to contact him already.

Call Mat at 0910959074. He's an Australian lawyer in Thailand that has experience in Family law. He can probably help you or tell you who can.

Sometimes the answer you receive from one IO is not the same as another and another when you actually apply.

I'm asking because it seems that there are posts from those who are coming through the Bangkok immigration that have not been asked for proof of insurance.

Why would anyone want to switch to a Non O-A visa considering the recent insurance requirements when you could simply get a Non-O with no insurance requirement?

As far as I recall the airline requires a return ticket booked because there have been problems with immigration denying entry in the past. An up to date opinion based on recent experience would be helpful to determine if this is or has been the case for anyone else.

Yes I would be coming off an O-A extension that I've extended consecutively for 4 years usually leaving the country for up to 6 months and returning with a re-entry stamp. The airport usually checks my passport to see what kind of visa I have since I don't have a return ticket. If I have a non-immigrant O-A they don't require a return ticket and I am allowed to board. If I don't have an O-A and the plan is to obtain a visa on arrival they may not let me board and that is the question whether anyone else has been able to do this without being told they have to have a return ticket booked?.
