Has anyone that previously had an O-A left Thailand and returned on a 30-day exempt by air without an onward flight been told they can't re-enter?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the concerns about traveling back to Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption after having an O-A visa and whether one can re-enter without an onward flight. Comments indicate that it is generally possible to enter without an onward ticket, although proof of funds and accommodation might be required at the airport.

Yes I would be coming off an O-A extension that I've extended consecutively for 4 years usually leaving the country for up to 6 months and returning with a re-entry stamp. The airport usually checks my passport to see what kind of visa I have since I don't have a return ticket. If I have a non-immigrant O-A they don't require a return ticket and I am allowed to board. If I don't have an O-A and the plan is to obtain a visa on arrival they may not let me board and that is the question whether anyone else has been able to do this without being told they have to have a return ticket booked?.

As far as I recall the airline requires a return ticket booked because there have been problems with immigration denying entry in the past. An up to date opinion based on recent experience would be helpful to determine if this is or has been the case for anyone else.

not letting you board the plane flying in visa exempt without onward travel is your air carrier's policy, IF you get on the plane you are highly unlikely to experience any issues stamping in to the country at passport control here..
I'd call your air carrier to see what their policy is about it

Why would you be denied entry? I'm not quite sure I follow the question you're trying to ask. You COULD be asked for proof of funds, proof of onward travel and proof of lodging, BUT I doubt you'd have a problem entering visa exempt after comin' off an O-A visa.

So you had an O-A visa from the thai consulate in your country, you got the full two years you could get out of it by using the visa correctly and then after that you wanted to enter on a visa exempt entry?
