This is possible to be a tax resident you have to spend at least 180 days in Thailand. You will not be able to open a bank account in Thailand but you can still have a Thai tax number. With the tax Thai number you can declare and pay your tax even if you don’t have a bank account. I haven’t done that yet but that what an accountant told me. To be sure you should contact one too.
