What I meant to say is that some embassies might be tolerant on this, but even when you get approved without 500K for each, immigration in Thailand might not be that tolerant.
Are you sure about that? Why should it be checked then for dependants when the first applicant already showed the 500K.
As far as I can see each applicant needs 500K, some embassies don't ask for children.
But even if the embassy does not ask, immigration might ask at any moment, so if you don't want any risk to get stopped at entry, you just need to have it.
DTV is not avis meant to live in the country, that just brings uncertainty. I know visa meant to stay in Thailand also do not guarantee a permant stay.
I do not have objections when people want to try to use a visa different, but I wonder if they realize the risks.
It is absolutely no guarantee you can stay 5 years, it is also depending on your job or soft power activity.
For moving to a country I would like to have a more permanent visa, not depending on a soft power activity, which is expensive, or on a job contract with remote working possibilities. Especially with a whole family that seems to be quite a risk you take.
What if they make checks more strict an you have to show you have
*****
00 on entry? They now already have the right to check.
Anonieme deelnemer DTV is not a long term visa, just a tourist visa, which you normally apply for before you travel. Then you apply in time before you travel, and the waiting will not be a problem.
I don't understand why all these so called digital nomads are in such an extreme hurry to get the DTV approved. It should be possible to work everywhere.
When that is not possible just apply for the visa where you can stay longer, like at home.
Anonieme deelnemer Having a visa wit a validity period of 5 years and a maximum stay of 180 days does not automatically imply you stay over 180 days in a calendar year.
It certainly is not intended to do so and lots of people will use it as intended and not use it as a visa to live in Thailand because for that purpose are other visa available.
Tax rules have nothing to do with DTV and change often, but are mainly targeted on people with Thai nationality, but when staying 180 days or more you will be a tax resident.
I think the moment the definition in law was made, nobody thought about remote work.
Remote work all over the world is very complicated, because there are no general agreed definitions where the work is done, which makes it very complicated for all kind of legal situations, like taxing and rules you have to adhere to, so as with which employment law you should comply.
