So aside from dowry, no different from most other cultures. It’s nice of you to try and educate these people, but most of them aren’t going to ever even meet a woman who graduated from Chula. And if they did, they are most likely not good enough for her. I’ve yet to meet a farang in Thailand during all the years I’ve been here who supports the family with a Thai woman who went to a top university and has a good career. I’m sure there are a few, but it’s certainly an outlier.

not everyone can long stay. That is true of Thailand and every other country on the planet. It’s not supposed to be easy. 500k isn’t a lot of money. And it’s less than retirees need to have deposited for only a 1 year visa.

I get that you guys who got or are after a DTV feel like everyone should be able to just come and live here, but surely you spent 5 minutes realizing the unintended consequences and ramifications? Do you not find it a bit odd that retirees who actually have verifiable income as well as high earning employees on LTR have to prove their actual income to stay here and DTV holders do not? I’m really just waiting for someone to admit what nobody wants to admit.

let’s stop saying “income requirement”. There is no income requirement. The financial requirement is 500k in a cash account. Someone who is unemployed with no income with a YouTube channel or instagram page and 500k has met the requirements.

they aren’t verifying income for DTV. You can literally have zero income. It’s not a requirement. The only financial requirement is the 500k in a cash account.

Retirement visa. 1 year. Income requirement.

LTR 10 years. Income requirement.

DTV. 5 years. No income requirement.

I already do pay to 2 countries the amount I am supposed to pay. I agree with you. Everyone should be paying their taxes and also not engaging in fraud to obtain visas. That’s how it’s supposed to be.

that’s an asinine expectation. Foreigners here before DTV with assessable income frequently never filed their tax reports. And, a lot of digital nomad types feel they shouldn’t pay taxes when they are in other countries where they are supposed to be paying taxes. If government officials are really not expecting a lot of these DTV holders to utilize more than 180 days a year on this visa, they are getting it very wrong.

I didn’t say you don’t. I’m talking about the people literally posting they don’t have it.
