I'm traveling and making money by investing in stocks online. I'm wondering if anyone who invests in stocks has had success with a DTV visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) has been successfully obtained by individuals working as online traders. To qualify, it's essential to present yourself as a remote worker and provide evidence from a company demonstrating your necessity to work remotely while traveling. This kind of documentation will help meet the visa regulations.
I was wondering which visa to get. Apparently, emotions are high about the visa choice. I was told getting a bank account was hard. I have a Thai bank account. It was as easy as getting an American bank account. I have four life scenarios; one where I declare dividends and other online work as income, the retirement one, or the credit card one (which seems the most ethically objectionable), and I am Tefl certified, so many options.
I am also a paid comedian. I like sarcasm, but it has to be productive, not snarky.
that’s the beauty of it. The requirements are so vague you can drive a bus thru the gaps.
Post a couple of vids on YouTube, get mom to drop 500k in an account somewhere and congratulations you are a digital nomad with a five year residency visa!
Think of all the poor sods with retirement and marriage and education visas trudging back and forth every year to their bank and immigration!
I don’t see how there’s any beauty in it. All it does it promote fraud and there will only be so many people just taking up space without even adequate funds to really live here. Wait til all the GoFundMe pages go up for motorbike accidents.
it’s not ‘fraud’ at all. It’s the system they have put in place. And yes - it will promote longer stays and more online ‘workers’. It’s immigration without the government needing to give handouts or support them in the way western countries foolishly handle immigration.
The visa holders will inject money into the local economy at no real impact to the state. They will thrive or be forced to head home. It’s an interesting visa that I would guess works out well for the Thai govt and will be the most applied for visa this country has ever had. It’s an astonishingly low threshold for a what is basically a five year residency visa. The floodgates are open
so many of people just kind of making shit up to get visas. It’s ridiculous. There are laid out requirements for who can get this visa and retail stock traders aren’t one of them.

There is a recent post of someone who got a DTV as an online trader.
what the fuck is even the point of having any kind of requirements or a visa altogether if it’s just going to be ignored and anyone with a pulse will be let in for 5 years?
i think all they want are people there spending money and all they really care about is that they have enough income to live, savings to cover emergencies, and dont take local jobs. hence the easy and vague requirements.
they aren’t verifying income for DTV. You can literally have zero income. It’s not a requirement. The only financial requirement is the 500k in a cash account.
let’s stop saying “income requirement”. There is no income requirement. The financial requirement is 500k in a cash account. Someone who is unemployed with no income with a YouTube channel or instagram page and 500k has met the requirements.
I get that you guys who got or are after a DTV feel like everyone should be able to just come and live here, but surely you spent 5 minutes realizing the unintended consequences and ramifications? Do you not find it a bit odd that retirees who actually have verifiable income as well as high earning employees on LTR have to prove their actual income to stay here and DTV holders do not? I’m really just waiting for someone to admit what nobody wants to admit.
