You can apply for a 90 days Non O visa or a one year Non O-A visa at home with your bank at home, but for the first year extension in Thailand you’ll need to bank 800K in a Thai bank. Later you can use the income method by proving twelve consecutive transactions of min 65K thb a month oversea to a your bank in Thailand.
Yes you must leave, but if you cancel your work permit you can get a 7 days extension denied at the immigration before you leave and re-enter on a visa exemption or tourist visa if you’ll like to apply for a regular Non O retirement visa in country when you return.
This is correct. If your embassy still offers to give you an affidavit letter to confirm your income, this is sufficient. Most embassies in west Europe still provide this letter, but we know the UK, US, AUS and the Danish stopped this service in 2018.
