I am planning to cancel my working permit and non imm-B visa and leave Thailand for a month or so. I know i have to cancel both the working permit and non imm-B visa on the same day and as i understand also leave the country on the same day.

I have though heard that i can get a 7-day extension at the immigration at the same time as i cancel my non imm-B visa, does anyone know if this is correct?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual plans to cancel their Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit to leave Thailand but is uncertain about the process. According to responses, you need to cancel the work permit and the visa at the same time. While it is commonly thought that you can receive a 7-day grace period upon cancellation, clarification indicates that this is not a true extension; instead, it results in a stamp giving you 7 days to depart the country. If under a valid visa, you cannot cancel it directly; instead, it becomes invalid upon leaving without a re-entry permit.

When will you stop working? This is when you need to cancel your non-b extension and work permit. You can ask your employer to provide a letter stating your last day of work and use this to cancel both in advance.

My last day of work i can decide myself as i am MD in my own company, but my non-b extension expires 22nd June while my preferred flight out of Thailand is on the 27th June.

OK. When you go to cancel the extension of stay make sure you take all your flight information with you as immigration is not obliged to accept your application for an extension, which gets you that 7 day extension denied stamp

here we are again. . . . . . . Do you have a Non-B visa, or are you on a Non-B extension? If you are still on a visa, you can't cancel the visa. If you are on an Extension, you needn't cancel it on Immigration because it will become invalid if you exit Thailand without a re-entry permit. Just cancel your work permit on the Labur Office and then exit Thailand when you please

But i must leave before the Non-B extension expires right?

@David ****
Yes you must leave, but if you cancel your work permit you can get a 7 days extension denied at the immigration before you leave and re-enter on a visa exemption or tourist visa if you’ll like to apply for a regular Non O retirement visa in country when you return.

My Non-B extension expires expires on the 22nd June, but by preferred flight out of Thailand is on the 27th June. So my plan was to cancel my WP and go to immigration on the 21st June to get an extra 7 days extension denied until the 28th, so i hope that would work out

hmm i guess i must have an Non-B extension as i have been working here for 20 years

You can only cancel an Extension of Stay, not a visa. If you have an Extension based on work, you cancel your WP then the Extension and leave the same day, or get the 7 days to leave mentioned by

ok, great thanks for your feedback.

Do you think the extension denied stamp might have any negative effect when i return and enter Thailand again on a 30-day visa exempt?

@David ****
No effect at all. It's what most people do when their Extension ends.

Correct, and a regular Non B is for 90 days, and multiple entries for one year. After its regular extension of stay.

You cancel your visa when you leave without a re-entry permit. There’s no 7 days extension, it’s just an extension denied stamp and you get 7 days to leave the country.
