Check the DTV requirements on Thai website to familiarise yourself with the details, ie you must apply outside of Thailand etc.

Once you have decided where you will apply check their specific requirements as embassies all have their own extra bits.

Also search the group for details from that embassy

Until the person at immigration decides you’ve done too many

@Tony ********
yes that’s right and the banks do accept a non o visa
Anna *********
Just don’t go and do it as you are supposed to. Easy but stupid 😀
Anna *********
@Tony ********
no you don’t, you get the visa before you arrive in Thailand and a non o is considered a long term visa
Anna *********
They are mistaken On a long term visa ( not tourist) you are able to open a bank account without too much trouble
Anna *********
Best not to assume 🤣

If you don’t have a Thai passport you must do 90 day reporting regardless of visa (except for ltr)

@Doug *******
so do find that sometime banks just say that sort of thing to get rid of you but it’s hard to argue with them even when we all know non o is nota tourist visa 😀

@Doug *******

You will be able to open a bank account without issue if you get a non - O visa before you leave your country. Once you arrive in Thailand open your bank account and transfer the money ( I did it bank to bank using Swift codes) Make sure you label the funds ‘long stay’ or equivalent on the transfer

Good luck
