Finally someone who knows what he's talking about.

I've been living , working and now visiting Thailand for over 30 years.

As you said , the best rates are in the basement near the airport link ticket office. As you also said , super rich do give very slightly better rates at their head office. Not only their head office though , their other downtown booths are also slightly better than their airport exchange booth but it is a miniscule difference.

Also the posters that keep repeatedly saying " you get the worst rates at airports , who would be so stupid to change money at an airport blah blah blah" . You people clearly don't know that downstairs in the basement the rates are totally different to the traps just before and after immigration.

I'm guessing your married to a Thai and therefore your brother-in-law is Thai.

Not sure they would do this treatment on foreigners.

Who did you go with and was it Istanbul or Antalya ?

I'm deciding whether to go Thailand or Turkey. Turkey slightly cheaper but I have used a couple of dentists in Thailand when I lived there and no problems.

just to add , when I was single and staying alone , I only washed a few small items by hand, occasionally, I mostly used the coin operated machines or occasionally the full laundry shop for my nicer clothes like dress shirts, trousers etc as they would be ironed as well.

I think I will be able to give good advice as I had several tattoos last year at wat bang phra. There are monks there using bamboo.

There are also professional tattoo artists upstairs that charge a set amount.

There is also a guy at the back ( sorry that's the best I can describe it ) that lives just behind the temple that accepts donations for the temple , entirely up to you how much you want to donate. The blessings and prayers are performed the same as the monks. I only found out afterwards that there are monks still doing sak yant. I left it up to my Thai partner to find out lol

The guy I used sits on his own , he is very good and uses bamboo.

I've had four different tattoos over stages ( different days ).

Maybe I will post the pics on here of my back at some point , can't do it right now.

Most Thais were using the man I used and there was a queue of around 1 + hour. I went lunchtime / early afternoon every time but be aware he stops around 4-5pm.
