You will need to go to the consulate in Bangkok to get your affidavit signed , you need to make appointment to get in sometimes takes a week sometimes takes 3 months once you have the papers signed you need to apply for marriage licence once you have licence it needs to be sent in for approval once you get aporoval you need to go to the district office in Bangkok to get married once you married if you not living in Bangkok you need to get registered wherever you going to be living , once you registered at that district if your wife change names she will need new passport, you would have signed the paperwork in Bangkok when you got married , take lots of pictures of you and your future wife you will need to show you are serious especially if you want get to come to Canada to visit , you will need minimum 20K in Canadian bank account for her application , if you go there for visa you can apply at the Thai consulate in Vancouver or Ottawa , do not apply for tourist visa you cannot open bank account , you can apply for spousal visa and work permit at the same time you need 400,000 Thai baht in Canadian account 3 months before you apply in Canada for spousal visa , spousal visa only good for one entry if you plan on leaving and going back within the same year you will need reentry permit to go back or they will cancel visa …. Or … apply for retirement visa which has multiple entry visa but you need 800,000 baht in bank 3 months before you apply and you will need health insurance which you can buy online , your choice I just went through all the hops and also my Thai wife she has her temporary visa approved to come here and my visa takes 1 month approval for me to go there , if you have 800,000 Thai baht and medical get the retirement visa multiple entry , spousal visa only one entry so that’s your choice, with spousal you can get a work permit visa so if she has lots of friends to find you job you can work there too which is exactly what I’m going to do, I’m also going to open an automotive repair shop on her land so Technically There is almost no way I cannot ever be tossed out unless I break the rules

I can’t believe someone actually got it right, I just got off the phone with the Thai consulate and you are absolutely correct , she said you can get 90 tourist visa but you cannot get bank privileges , she said you can go with 90 day visa , go to Thailand , after 60 days apply for extension for either retirement visa or spousal visa , as well she told me that if I wanted I can apply for either one since I’m married online before I leave Canada and I need show my Canadian bank records to show I have the funds here since I married Thai girl and want multiple entry visa she said if I have the money get retirement visa apply online from home or get spousal visa because less money needed to show in my bank at time of application, wow , in 6 months you the first person on this site to know what they talking about , everyone else say for the with tourist 90 day visa and open account, you can do that unless you actually change visas when you go the because you visa not active until you go to Thailand, OMG you should be immigration lawyer for this site
