He probably wants to find a long term plan to stay. What's the issue with that? It's no different from foreigners on retirement visas or working in schools with a work permit. At the end of the day they all like being here and find a way that qualifies them to stay.
The issue I see is that the mods don't seem to like topics about ED visas and TR visas, for whatever reason. But a lot of people use this group solely for info on those visas. Commenting on posts tends to get turned off too quickly. Sometimes people would like to hear updates and/or have something valuable to add. My advice is to be more accepting of all visa related posts and to not turn off commenting so soon after a post.
If you're going to do a visa run and get an exemption stamp it's probably better to go to one of the land borders with a visa company. Flying in with no visa is a bit of a risk these days.
