Why are comments turned off and posts deleted in the visa-related discussion group?

A polite appeal for the Mods to stop turning off comments and deleting posts.

Not all of us are on the page 24/7 and it's frustrating to see the advice cut short.

Today I wanted an update on the story of the man who had his Ed visa rejected because of 2 prior tourist visas... Alas, it has vanished.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion centers around frustrations regarding the moderation of a Facebook group focused on visa advice for expats in Thailand. Users express concerns about posts being deleted or comments being turned off too quickly, particularly concerning education (ED) and tourist (TR) visas. Some members clarify that not all deletions are due to moderators and that original posters can delete their own threads. Others highlight the importance of accurate information and the challenges of managing a large group to prevent misinformation from spreading. The conversation emphasizes the need for more openness to discussing visa topics without premature moderation.

If you see a post that you are really interested in. Save it.

And with that find by
@Benjamin *****
...I will look both ways...and in my rear view mirror...and Close Commenting.πŸ˜‰
Benjamin ******
How do you save posts, and if they get deleted, will the saved post be dleted?
James ********
@Ian ********
that I often do....good tip
Tod *********
we used to let posts run, but what would inevitably happen is after the person got the correct answer some well meaning wing-nut would post wrong information and start the whole thread over again.

It got to the point where I just decided to close topics as soon as someone gets the right answer.

ANYONE can message the moderation team (
@Rob***
,
@Ja***
,
@Ll***
,
@Amor****
, or myself to re-open a thread IF you think you can provide additional information.

Sorry, it's a group with a lot of people, it's a group that lives or dies on accurate information and it's something the moderation team is putting time in to do for free.

The issue I see is that the mods don't seem to like topics about ED visas and TR visas, for whatever reason. But a lot of people use this group solely for info on those visas. Commenting on posts tends to get turned off too quickly. Sometimes people would like to hear updates and/or have something valuable to add. My advice is to be more accepting of all visa related posts and to not turn off commenting so soon after a post.

the mods just don’t dance around the fact that people are using visas not for their intended purpose. Truth hurts
Kieran *********
I didn't say they delete information about those visas. But now you mention it, one of my comments on a TR visa post was deleted a while back.

I think the real thing is many many people milk a few years of stay here on tourist visas and or visa exempt entries THEN decide to switch to an ED visa (not necessarily because they want to study OR learn anything but just to further their stay). Those are the people likely to be denied an ED visa at the nearby consulates.
Benjamin ******
What do you mean by "they don't like those topics"? I don't believe they ever delete information about ED and TR (?) visas

@Rob***
is an OK guy. He doesn't get paid for any of his time and advice he gives on here.

He knows the B visa and WP laws off of the top of his head.

Modding a large Facebook group is actually pretty hard work. I was a mod on a 50K member Pattaya group and I was on FB 6+ hours a day or more

@Ron ******
yep...Top of the Hill with B and WP...Marriage to Thai etc too.

We hear you David...and its VERY IMPORTANT that folks with multiple visas, extensions, exempt entries contact
@Amornrat *********
before you go to apply for a visa anywhere.

@Ron ******
agreed...its a sadly developing scene. And I do respect your comments. We will have to break bread someday πŸ˜‰
James ********
@Ron ******
thank you....but I miss your point. With so many reported denials of recent, I am merely trying to help one get helpful advice. As you always do.
James ********
@Ron ******
I totally agree. But we have NOT been recommending Agents.

I have suggested as you have read that
@Amornrat *********
be consulted ...especially if a person with history that may result in denied visa.
James ********
@Ron ******
Amornrat is not an Agent..He is a well experienced Admin of this site.....and if one chats with him before going to apply for a visa they would not be denied as often as we are seeing now. What is wrong with that? Am I wrong in trying to help someone ??

You are the expert with UK visa situations.
@Amornrat *********
is.too with SE Asia Thai Consulates and their issuance or denials of visa applications. Both provide invaluable help and guidance to members.
James ********
@Ron ******
good point. Whats one to do...tell them to Google it? Or provide helpful tip?
Ron *******
Jesus christ. This contacting an agent lark regarding anything to do with visas and travel is getting out of control.
James ********
@David ******
with the changing scene in SE Asia...its a must IMHO to chat with Amornrat.

It should be there...as we do not delete posts...its a rarity if we do.

But an OP did delete his yesterday re two friends denied Ed Visas.

Darren I recall the post an it was deleted by the OP...

@David ******

Thank you. The man who was rejected for 2 prior tourist visas?
Benjamin ******
A couple of things:

1. Not just mods, but also the OP can delete the posts.

2. Sometimes posts just aren't visa related (but the example you gave was visa related).

The mods here are very good about letting ED visa related posts remaining. Now, if it's the OP who deletes the posts... well, there's nothing the mods can do about that (I don't think...).
