I strongly advise no-one to attempt to do this. A friend of mine attempted a similar under the table operation... Once your passport is in someone else's hands, not on the books, you're opening yourself up to potential extortion.
I'd have to check my passport, in 2016 arrived from UK on non-o, then went to Laos two times to come back in on a tourist visa, then back to Laos to get non-o again. Then visa extension one year. Then this year 2017 went to Laos to get a non-o again (new employer)
It reads "Remark: The holder of this passport travels to Thailand under a tourist visa several times, which may result in refusal of a visa in the future. "
