only because of covid right? I’m meaning more at normal times, I just find it wrong that any human cannot leave a country essentially forever unless they have bundles of cash, I knew an old lady who died here purely because she could not afford a half decent hospital, it’s sad but I’d say if she went to any paid/decent hospital she would still be here, I digress but it’s that sort of money = you can live/travel mentality I despise, plus kids who’s perants here might be not so wealthy have a shit education, why? Money... for me it’s not right and Thailand should offer every elder and child the same care as the next person regardless of the bank balance, I also feel anyone should be able to travel to see family in another country just like we can
it’s based on having my son at a school here, to get the none o in hull (my home city) I just had to submit a series of documents, one being his school liscence, a letter from the school stating he is in that school and will be essentially, few other bits I have an exact list on my pc and a wallet of papers I take for the extension, it’s not based on marriage nor am I married I’m divorced you see, I know if it wasn’t a UK consulate/hull I’d need to show financial proof but as it’s in my country I don’t, so I should be good to just go as usual with my normal papers which are a stack, stuff like grandmas I’d, her house book copy etc he is registered as living his gran on paper, he spends mon-fri with her and fri-mon with me however I pay for his priv school and everything but yai lives near the school so it’s just a deal we’ve always had, I digress but I’m safe on the bank stuff, cheers bud
mine does not involve money, I got it from my home town of hull and there is no money requirements, same with my extension, my none o is based on having a child at a school (weirdly it’s a foreign student at priv school as he is dual nationality) I only have to show financial proof to get a none o if it’s not in hull aka the uk, cheers
that’s Todd, that’s awesome so essentially I can get 60 days with the normal paper work I take in, aka his school licence, etc, that’s a massive relief and thanks for the info, I will go tomorrow but technically I could go in 10 days and I’d still be fine? This is great but I hope my idc center which is Maha Sarakham understand and don’t fob me off, but your a legend as usual Tod, I owe you a beer and a beer from last time, really thou you should be paid for this you help thousands It’s really appreciated and not just because it’s good news, cheers mate
well I mean I think it’s just sad a Thai can’t travel like we can is all, I mean as a uk citizen I can go anywhere, I don’t see why Thais can’t travel, let’s face it most Thais would not get the opportunity to leave Thailand, kinda sad really given there is a whole world of opportunities and countries to see, I can’t imagine if the uk said to me you can’t leave the uk
yes mate agreed, I know the lady at the Thai consulate in hull (my home town) she said no one knows anything but she did say do not overstay, I did before you see on a tourist visa, they have banned me from ever entering on a tourist visa again, but that isn’t the problem she said if I overstay it could affect my future application which she does for me in usually a few days, she warns me as she knows I have kids here but others won’t get that warning plus overstaying your paying 500 a day and obviously after that date the immagration police are going to be out in force no doubt so could potentially get blacklisted and a stay in the detention center , so I get you but I wouldn’t overstay purely for the fact there is no compassion so you’ll get handed the book and no mercy even thou it’s their fault for not letting us know, I mean what it’s less than 20 days away and they still haven’t said anything, stupid I know but let’s hope this next week brings something, I thought the same as you till I spoke to her, she can’t give me any advice on what to do thou as even she doesn’t know and she heads up the Thai consulate, if she doesn’t know then I’d imagine we are gona be last, they didn’t think this amnesty through as to what happens when it runs out, imagine every expat all rushing out of Thailand on or around the end of July? Would be manic not to mention the massive loss of revenue from is, all we can do is pray I guess but I do get what you mean on the overstay it crossed my mind but then for what? Immagration officer catches you olon day one, your done for so not worth it mate but good thing is we are all mainly in the same boat so hopefully numbers will matter, we could even set up an online partition to extend the amnesty to Christmas, if we get enough online signatures maybe it might have some weight? Cheers
8 years here and 2 kids/dog, i completly feel your pain mate, i think id be loosing it if i couldnt see my son, but things are progressing quick, im lucky to be here but who knows when ill be thrown out, lets hope its sorted all soon, if anything you considered cambodia etc just to have a few weeks with the family? I think I will probably do something like that if I am told to leave end of the month, mabe laos/cambodia etc just to see the kids/mrs, but its shit mate, first they messed us up with the whole visa situation now this, is it so hard for them to allow us tilll Christmas to let things calm plus we are gona be spending here, but nah no logic here so we have to just sit and wait, anyway all the best to you
I feel ya pain bud, hopefully youll get some good news soon, if the west can stop being prats and get covid sorted like Thailand has, anyway good luck mate and im sure the wait till be worth it when you get settled back
Airlines capitalizing on it I guess, then they want bailing out when they are in the shit, I would sooner fly to another country near Thailand and sit it out for a bit, then again in my small opinion, if we do get told to leave, they are going to make it very difficult to get back in, maybe not difficult but at-least 2021 which would be awful for those with kids/families, especially since they make it so hard for thais to leave the country, for example... if i want fly to a country i hop on a plaine, a thai has to go through interviews and usualy will be declined, something massively wrong about not letting someone leave there own country to travel for me, why are we privilidged and thais cant? not fair, Id love it if I could just hop on a flight now with my kids and wife to the UK, but nah wont happen this year :( anyway lets hope it all pans out for the best
and even if i extend, i wont get the 60 days i think ill get 60 days from when I should have extended right so in my case 60 days starting 16 june not now or the end of the month?
