If I fly to Penang, Malaysia and fly back the next day, even though I have reached my land two crossings tourist stamps this year I can still get a stamp in as it’s by air? and the 2 limit per calander year is by land only? Also can I fly there and back in one day or do I need to stay at least one night? Thanks all

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can re-enter Thailand by air after having two land crossings in the same calendar year, as the limit applies only to land entries. Therefore, flying to Penang, Malaysia, and returning the next day is permissible and should not affect your ability to get a new stamp upon re-entry. However, if you are suspected of working in Thailand, you may need to provide documentation to clarify your status.

Depending on where you are departing from - just to do a turn around inside an airport (passing through immigration and back through) - then Kuala Lumpur might be better. I've done this at KL - a long walk but easy enough. Booking two one way tickets may get you better times.

Unlimited by air. If the immigration officer suspects you're working in thailand you might have to provide documentation to prove you aren't

@Ry**
, if you're comin' in on a visa exempt entry the "arriving by land" is only gonna work TWO times in a calendar year.

cheers mate, how about arriving by land and leaving by air? Guess it’s same as flying, doing this for so many years now just trying to cut costs down but also not waste my time if you get me, cheers

thank you, he has a uk and Thai passport and I am his real father so thanks defnintly something to consider, all this in and out, buying visas certinally adds up not to mention the pointless time in transit when essentially id rather give the money to Thailand not air Asia if you get me, cheers all anyway appreciated

Barry Teoh. Can you give us a 'heads up' on which documents prove you're not working

If you're the official parent and the boy has Thai nationality you can apply for a Non Immigrant O visa for 90 days and after that Extension of Stay for 1 year.

@Ry**
. You can fly out and come back same day for another 30 day exemtion stamp. Or spend the night in penang for another 60 day tourist visa

@Steve ******
thing is bro I’ve already extended my 60 day visa plus done two land entries this year

@Ry**
. You can pay the Thai government for a visa or an extention of stay
Barry ******
99% of the time you will just get a stamp no questions asked

Immigration can ask to see finances/onward travel/an address. Not sure there's any documents to prove you're not working

Documents to proof I aren’t? I own a uk company which is registered by companies house so should be enough given all my earnings are sent in £ but I understand what your saying, but I guess I should be ok with that, reason for being here so long is because I have a 3 year old boy you see, thanks for your reply, so I can acttually go in and out same day by air as well? like sit in the airport waiting for the returning flight? How stupid is all this I’d rather pay the Thai government the price of the flight heh

Yes, it's only land borders for 2 entries and no problem returning the same day
