Your costs will vary dependent upon where you live and what school your send your kid to. When I moved out here I was able to get an idea on rent, school fees etc by using Google. That would be a good starting point seeing as you've given nothing to go on in your post.

Now, which visa, or lack of visa, do you believe requires only 10k as funds evidence should you need to provide it?

it's more than 300, officially it's 20k baht which is closer to USD 600
