@Klaus **********
they say 3 days but mine was quicker than that. Might have changed since though as more and more people are applying

you can but you can also apply in several Thai embassies in the region (Hanoi, HCM, Vientianne, Penang, KL, Jakarta, Hong Kong to name a few…) each one has different criteria, prices, waiting times and rules though so best to do some research before selecting which one to go to! In my case applying in Germany would have been much more expensive and time consuming than going on a trip to Hanoi as I was already in the region!

When they checked my contract (Hanoi) she mainly checked that it stated my name, salary and that you’re allowed to work remotely (mine said home-based and that was fine too)

Hi! I don’t think you need one, but it might be helpful to have if your case is a bit complex or you feel like you need some extra explanation as to why you’re submitting particular documents. I wrote a brief one just listing in bullets what I’m submitting for each of the criteria and she did read it, but I don’t think it’s mandatory. Good luck! 🤞

I guess the experience in each embassy is different :) I can only speak for my experience in Hanoi which was very professional, friendly and straightforward!

The embassy in Hanoi checked all the documents very thoroughly at the counter while submitting. I don’t think she would have let me submit and pay if I hadn’t met the criteria the embassy has set, so I think once you get past the front counter and manage to pay it’s very unlikely you’ll be rejected. If you’re missing things or they want additional documents they send you away pre-payment and ask you to submit when you’ve got everything in order.

@Kay ***
it took three working days (excluding the day I submitted as it was late afternoon) :)

no worries! That’s the right form - you just select ‘other visa’ :) but don’t worry too much about filling it all out (I missed some stuff and she just told me what to write and I did it there during my appointment which wasn’t an issue as they spend quite a bit of time checking all the documents are in order so you can use that time to complete the form)

This was not true for me! Just submitted regular print outs of the above. As long as you don’t need translations (which need to be legalized by a notary according to their website) I think you should be fine. This might also differ based on what kind of DTV you’re applying for though, so you may want to double check directly with them just to be sure?
