I would never carry my passport in public in Thailand, or anywhere else. Been there twice and it has never been an issue

This is either fake or someone who shouldn't be traveling. How do you get your passport stolen when it shouldn't leave the safe in your hotel room?

relatively the same thing then. $6000 USD/month when you pay hotel/apartment out of that you can still live well. Personally, when I go in December I plan to live like a king. Lol.

yeah. I get it that not everyone has money, but Thailand is not exactly a place I would want to live broke.

I take $200/day minimum. If you want to eat street food and live in a shoebox you can get by with less of course.

How it looks to me is you have to buy property in Thailand to qualify for LTR. Is that correct?
