You do not need it in Laos. Only here when you get your work permit. I have just been through this. Bu the Toeic is required for us. Painful. But no need for it for this first step in Laos. Here in bKK they are full of it!
I am actually doing the trip in the next few days again. Sorting my non b out once and for all. Finally have all my paperwork. Well. Just waiting for the letter from labour.
I have done it. Flew there with Air Asia. Booked a very nice hotel through Booking.com. organised an airport pickup through the hotel. Then had them take me to the consulate there. They dropped me off. I went and stood in the queue. Waited about an hour. Handed in my passport and paperwork. All done. Collected the following afternoon. It is less stressful than going in the minivan for sure
At this point I would not lie and say no. But when I did go an cancel my visa 2 months ago. I was in and out within 10 minutes.
But the past 2 weeks have been chaos there. So if you do go. Get there very very early. Put something in the queue to save your spot and go for coffee. Then you will get in and out quickly. But to be safe. Book an afternoon flight.
The good thing is that the queue for cancelling visas is very short. N2 queue. Not many people there.
